
Electric Control Box for Suspended Platform Systems
An electric control box manages the lifting, lowering and emergency-stop functions of a ZLP suspended platform. It connects the two hoist motors, control buttons, power input and safety circuits in one enclosure.

Main Control Functions
- Simultaneous lifting and lowering of both hoists
- Individual left and right adjustment for platform leveling
- Emergency-stop control

- Phase-sequence and phase-loss protection where specified
- Leakage and overload protection according to the selected configuration

Information Required for Replacement
Provide the platform model, hoist model, motor power, voltage, frequency and photographs of the existing wiring terminals. A replacement electric control box must match the hoists and the site power supply.
Common configurations use industrial plugs for connection to the motors and pendant controls. Plug type, cable length and enclosure arrangement should be confirmed before ordering.
Internal Components
Depending on the design, the box may contain contactors, relays, circuit protection, phase monitoring, transformers, terminal blocks and push-button controls. Replacement components must have suitable voltage and current ratings.
Do not substitute contactors, relays or protective devices without checking the electrical diagram. Incorrect components can affect braking, motor direction or protection functions.
Inspection and Troubleshooting
Disconnect and secure the power supply before opening the enclosure. Check for loose terminals, burned contacts, damaged cables, moisture, corrosion and signs of overheating. Confirm that cable glands and plugs are secure.
If one hoist does not run, inspect the motor connection, contactor, control button and related wiring. If both motors stop, check incoming power, emergency stop, phase protection and the main protective devices. Electrical testing should be completed by qualified personnel.
Installation Checks
- Confirm voltage and frequency before connection.
- Verify motor direction before lifting personnel.
- Test left, right and simultaneous movement.
- Test emergency stop and upper limit switches.
- Keep the enclosure closed and protected from water during operation.
- Complete the required functional test before returning the platform to service.
The OSHA scaffold requirements provide general safety references for suspended scaffold work in the United States. Local electrical and work-at-height rules must also be followed.
